Atlantic hurricanes and tropical storms since 1851
Every tropical cyclone in the North Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean in NOAA's HURDAT2 best-track database, from 1851 to the last completed season. One row per storm, with peak wind, lowest pressure, Saffir–Simpson category, landfalls and accumulated cyclone energy.

| Key | Name | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| storm_id | NHC ID | string | HURDAT2 storm identifier: basin, number within the season, year. |
| name | Name | string | Storm name; empty for unnamed storms (all storms before 1950 and some later ones). |
| year | Season | year | — |
| start_date | First track point | date | — |
| end_date | Last track point | date | — |
| peak_status | Peak status | string | Highest tropical or subtropical status reached: Hurricane, Tropical storm, Subtropical storm, Tropical or Subtropical depression. |
| category | Category | integer | Peak Saffir–Simpson hurricane category (1–5), from the highest wind while a hurricane. Empty if never a hurricane. |
| max_wind_kt | Max wind | integer · kt | Highest 1-minute sustained wind while tropical or subtropical, in knots (1 kt = 1.852 km/h). |
| min_pressure_mb | Min pressure | integer · mb | Lowest central pressure while tropical or subtropical, in millibars. Often missing before the 1970s. |
| ace | ACE | number · 10⁴ kt² | Accumulated Cyclone Energy, computed from the 6-hourly best-track winds while at tropical/subtropical storm strength or above. |
| landfalls | Landfalls | integer | Number of landfall points (centre crossing a coastline) flagged in the best track, anywhere. |
| max_landfall_wind_kt | Strongest landfall wind | integer · kt | Highest sustained wind at any flagged landfall. |
| peak_lat | Peak latitude | number · ° | Position at the first time of peak wind. |
| peak_lon | Peak longitude | number · ° | Position at the first time of peak wind. |
| track_points | Track points | integer | Number of best-track positions (usually every 6 hours). |
