The data is free. Scale is cheap.
Every page, every dataset download and every bulk file is free forever. You only pay when your app or AI agent needs more API throughput than the free daily allowance.

Questions
- What's free, exactly?
- Every web page, every entity export from the site, and every bulk dataset file (CSV, Excel, JSON and seven other formats). Plus 500 API requests and 25,000 rows a day without a key, including the MCP server for AI assistants.
- What counts as a request?
- One call to a /api/v1 endpoint, an entity export, or one MCP tool call. Rows are the number of rows (or entities) a call returns.
- Can I use the data commercially?
- The data keeps its source license — most of it is public domain or CC0, some is CC BY or CC BY-SA and needs attribution. Each dataset page states its license. Paid plans cover commercial use of the API service itself.
- How fresh is it?
- Entity pages refresh daily from Wikidata; live datasets (earthquakes, rates, FX) refresh every 15 minutes to 6 hours; the rest rebuild on a daily-to-monthly schedule from their sources.
